Dips !

Low-Fat creamy dip:
1/2cup low-fat yogurt, 1/2cup crumbled feta cheese, chopped mint leaves, salt & pepper, 1/2 ts olive oil is what you are going to need. Wisk it all together and dip your favorite vegetables.

Spicy Dip :
You will need 1 cup chili sauce (tomato sauce is OK as a sub), 1 tbs horseradish, juice from 1 lemon, hot sauce to taste, chopped cilantro or parsley to taste, 1/2 ts olive oil. Wisk and refrigerate. Serve cold as a dip for vegetables or shrimp cocktail.

Chili Mango Dip:
Get 2 - 3 mangos and cube the flesh, the juice of 1 lime, chili paste to taste, salt & pepper. Set the blender to "puree" and give it a whirl. During the process add 1 ts olive oil. Refrigerate until ready to serve. Great for dipping vegetables / shrimp or seafood !

Special Dipping Salsa:
This special dipping salsa is great for spreading over cooked vegetables, rice or just used as a cold dip for fresh vegies.
Corsely cube 1 cup pineapple, 1 or more jalepeno peppers finely chopped, the juice of 1 lemon/lime, chopped cilantro, salt & pepper, 3 green onions chopped with the "tails", 2 tbs white wine vinegar. Mix and refrigerate until ready to serve.

WhoopAss Dip:
Get your water bottles ready for this one ! A knock -your-socks-off, hot-to-trot, whoop-ass dip for vegetables or your favorite low/no fat corn chips or oven-dried pita pieces.
You will need a blender. Place a liberal amount of cooked kidney or (more recommended) black beans excluding the water into the blender. Add two or more peeled garlic cloves. One for the beginner, two or more for the brave, habanero peppers (the large ones). Give it all a whirl at med speed just long enough to get that just-right consistency. Near the end of the blending process add a bit of salt to bring out the tastes !!! If you want it more "smooth" add a coulee of olive oil. Refrigerate and serve cold...

Equally satisfying and nutritious is the chick pea puree (Hummus) found in these pages. It can used with fresh pita as a dip or corn chips, cucumber slices, or any favorite vegetable. Remember these versatile, nutritious and healthy dips the next time you have a chinese fondu (the kind you do in broth instead of oil) .
